The Go Getta Mix And Mingle

Every year around my birthday, I take a moment to reflect. Not just on my own journey, but on the people and the community that continue to pour into me. Over time, I started to realize something: there are so many incredible women doing powerful work every single day, and most of the time, they are so busy building, serving, and showing up for others that they rarely stop to celebrate themselves.

They’re leading organizations.
Building businesses.
Mentoring youth.
Serving their communities.
Raising families.

And I kept asking myself a simple question: when do we pause and celebrate them?

That question is really where The Go Getta Mix & Mingle was born.

What started as a birthday celebration just for me and inviting my friends has grown into something much bigger. I wanted to create a space where women who lead, build, serve, inspire, and elevate could come together in one room and be recognized for the work they are doing right now, not years later, but while they are actively walking in their purpose, while they can smell the flowers they are given.

For me, that’s what being a Go Getta is all about.

The Mix & Mingle was never meant to be a traditional awards show. I didn’t want anything stiff or overly formal. Instead, I wanted something that felt like community—a space where women could connect, network, laugh, celebrate, and raise a glass together.

That’s why we call it a toast.

Each year we celebrate a group of incredible women called the Talented Ten, inspired by the writings of W.E.B. Du Bois. The women we recognize come from different industries and backgrounds, but they all have something in common, they are using their gifts to uplift others and make a real impact in their communities.

Watching this event grow over the years has been a beautiful thing. What started as a small gathering has grown into a room filled with entrepreneurs, educators, creatives, nonprofit leaders, and professionals who believe in supporting one another.

The Mix & Mingle also took on an even deeper meaning for me after the passing of my mother, Crystal E. Viverette.

My mom was a nurse who loved people deeply. Even while she was battling breast cancer, she continued to show up for her patients and her family. That level of strength and dedication never left me. One year, while she was still living, I honored her with the Rose award, where I wanted to give women in my life their flowers while they can smell them.  And then after she passed, I wanted to change this award up.

When we brought the event back after that season, I knew I wanted to honor her legacy in a meaningful way. That’s how the Crystal E. Viverette Spirit of Resilience Award was created. This recognition celebrates women who continue to lead, serve, and uplift others even in the face of adversity.

Because resilience deserves to be celebrated too.

Another piece of the Mix & Mingle that means a lot to me is that the event also supports the Go Getta Scholarship, which helps empower the next generation of young women. Celebrating today’s leaders while investing in tomorrow’s leaders is something that will always be important to me.

Each of these women represents leadership, strength, and the true spirit of what it means to be a Go Getta.

This year marks the 9th Annual Go Getta Mix & Mingle, and I’m excited to once again to gather with a room full of powerful, purpose-driven women and the people who support them, The Go Gettas. If you’ve never been before, I truly hope you’ll join us.

It’s a night of connection, celebration, music, and community. But more than anything, it’s a reminder that when women support one another, incredible things happen.
