Right now, we have our accident investigation unit at the scene conducting their follow up. And we've also notified the Erie County District Attorney's Office as at this point this is a criminal investigation to determine exactly what happened

Buffalo Police are currently investigating the incident in hope of determining exactly what happened. Investigators are looking for any witnesses that may have seen the crash or may have observed the van speeding and driving erratically down Delaware Avenue.
I saw some photos of this accident on Instagram and I really was taken back by how the van was positioned in the monument. I feel sad for the family of the woman who was killed and I hope the man who was injured is able to recover.
