Trump Uses Tear Gas On Migrants At U.S.-Mexico Border
The San Diego border crossing was shut down Sunday after hundreds of migrants tried to enter the U.S. and were stopped with tear gas and a blockade of police.
Many woke up this morning to see disturbing images of migrants, including young children, running away and choking on tear gas. Many of these migrants are fleeing the violence in Central America.
Trump has defended his administration’s actions by tweeting today that Mexican officials should ship the thousands of Central American migrants seeking entry into the U.S. back to their countries of origin by any means necessary, according to NBC News. A lot of people took to social media to voice their anger and call out Trump, including Rihanna and Kelly Rowland.
Rihanna labeled tear gassing young children “terrorism,” in an Instagram post and Kelly Rowland said she was disgusted and used her post to talk about the importance of voting in 2020 to “#Getthisclownout.”
Trump claimed that many of the migrants are “stone cold criminals” and told Mexico to send the migrants back to countries such as Guatemala and Honduras by airplane, bus or “anything you want.”
He also threatened to shut down the U.S. southern border “permanently” if needed.
