I know I’m not the only one who missed the classic Trix! 90s kids know that back in the day, the cereal used to have fruity shapes as opposed to the current balls.

Well, after a 12-year hiatus, we’re going to get a taste of our childhood again! According to General Mills, the fruit shapes are making a comeback this fall after the company received over 20,000 requests from cereal lovers for the shapes to return.

“Trix cereal is beloved by our fans, and we heard loud and clear that they wanted to see the iconic shapes back in their bowls,” said Scott Baldwin, General Mills’ director of marketing. “When Trix launched in 1954, it was the first fruit-flavored cereal that was colorful and fun.”

Fun fact: Trix were only fruit-shaped between 1991 and 2006. The original cereal that debuted in 1954 was made of pastel colored, ball-shaped bites but the company decided to do a revamp in ’91. Trix is also reportedly “fortified with 12 vitamins and minerals, and made from whole grain” and “is also a good source of calcium.”

“The reintroduction of Classic Trix Fruity Shapes, follows the re-release of Classic Trix last year, which contained artificial colours and flavours as some consumers claimed that the naturally-coloured version of the cereal was ‘not colourful enough,’ FoodBev Media reports.

According to sources,, the new Trix will hit shelves nationwide in the US this month with it’s classic fruity flavors, including raspberry red, lemony lemon, orangey orange, wildberry blue, grapity purple and watermelon.
