Green Light law Challenge Begins In Court – Ruling Next Month
The "Green Light' law is a law that would allow undocumented immigrants to obtain a licenses which would help them get jobs and be able to travel operating a motor vehicle without the fear of being arrested on a minor traffic stop .With 11 other states allowing undocumented immigrants to have a license I don't see why we cant join the list . However this situation isn't so black or white and even the judge assigned to case needed more time to make a decision.
BUFFALO, N.Y. — A decision on an issue with state-wide implications will not be made for a few more weeks.
Oral arguments took place Wednesday morning on New York State's Green Light Law. The law was signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo in June and will allow undocumented immigrants to get a driver's license in New York State.
Erie County Clerk Mickey Kearns filed papers seeking a preliminary injunction against the measure. Federal District Court Judge Elizabeth Wolford heard from both sides and said she will render a decision sometime in mid-November.
