One of the unsung leaders of that team could not be joining Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed, Bruce Smith, and Head Coach Marv Levy in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced that Steve Tasker is a semi-finalist for the 2022 hall of fame induction.

Tasker is best known for his play on Special Teams and if he were to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame he would be only the 6th special team specialist to be in the Hall.

Currently, there are four kickers, Morten Andersen George Blanda who also played QB, Lou Groza, and Jan Stenerud.

There is one punter Ray Guy in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Tasker was known as a gunner, meaning that he was always one of the first players down on a kick-off or punt and would try to tackle the opposing return man. In his career, Tasker was named to 7 Pro Bowls and was the only special teams player to ever be named a Pro Bowl MVP.

That happened in 1993 when Tasker made four special teams tackles. blocked a field goal and had a fumble recovery in that Pro Bowl.

Tasker also had 204 special teams tackles and seven blocked punts during his career.

He is one of 26 semi-finalists for the 2022 Pro Football Hall of Fame. The other special teams player nominated this year is former Chicago Bears return man Devon Hester.
