TOWN RUNDOWN: UB SOUL Homecoming Is Back!

Calling ALL University at Buffalo alumni! It’s officially Homecoming time, and if you know, you know, UB SOUL is back at it again!

There’s something special about coming back to the place where friendships were built, memories were made, degrees were earned and, for many of us, adulthood really started. Homecoming gives alumni a reason to reconnect, but SOUL Homecoming has created an experience all its own.

This year, the celebration takes over Buffalo September 24 through September 27, with four days of events designed to bring alumni back together.

Thursday kicks things off with the UB Alumni Achievement Awards at the Center for the Arts, followed by the Homecoming Kickoff Welcome Mixer at Deco Lounge with music by JayGetsBusy.

Friday keeps it moving with a community service event, the CSTEP/EOP Student Alumni Mixer, the UB Homecoming Carnival and “The Kickback” Game Night at The M Hotel Buffalo.

Then Saturday? Baby, clear the calendar!

The UB SOUL/ALANA Tailgate takes over the Arena Lot on UB’s North Campus from 1 to 4 PM before UB football takes on Robert Morris at 3:30 PM. After the game, the celebration continues with the SOUL Splash Pool Party at The M Hotel Buffalo from 6 to 10 PM with music by DJ Mr. Illmatic.

And because we don’t just leave after Saturday night, Sunday closes out the weekend with the UB SOUL Brunch and Bills Watch Party at The Rose from 1 to 4 PM with music by Tru Journey.

What I love about SOUL Homecoming is that it feels bigger than a lineup of parties. Look at the pictures from previous years and you see it immediately: people reconnecting with old friends, representing their organizations, laughing, dancing and showing love to the university that connects them all.

That’s what Homecoming should feel like.

So whether you graduated five years ago or twenty years ago, this is your call to come HOME! Pull out that UB gear, hit the group chat, tag your old roommates and tell your crew to start making plans.
