There could not only be a new Skatepark on the way for the Eastside of Buffalo, but also an uncharacteristic outdoor facility with respect to most inner cities across the Nation. In most inner-cities across the U.S., it's not surprising to see outdoor basketball courts, or football and soccer fields but a Skatepark is very much outside of the norm. That reality is not indicative of the number of African-American and Hispanic youth who predominantly live in the Inner City areas, because skate-boarding is just as popular among minority youths as it is within a traditional nonminority group.
According to news reports, the Skatepark is the brainchild of Pastor Giles of Back to Basics Ministry who, in conjunction with Project Play WNY, a division of the Ralph C. Wilson Junior Foundation, is excited about bringing a skateboard park to Buffalo's eastside.
