Just about wherever you go, that seems to be true. Just about anywhere in the world, you can find someone who used to live in the 716, is a Bills or Sabres fan, or in this case, an internationally known, GRAMMY-nominated, Emmy award-winning entertainer.

Annually, Johannesburg, South Africa, hosts one of the biggest Hip-Hop festivals in the world, the Hennessy Back to the City festival. Back for its 18th year on the African continent, the 2024 Back to the City festival features Buffalo's Benny The Butcher as the headliner.

This year, the 2024 Hennessy Back to the City festival takes over Mary Fitzgerald Square in Johannesburg. It features more than 100 artists and dozens of activities that highlight South African Hip Hop, art, and urban culture.

The Butcher is in South Africa to provide the soundtrack for thousands of rap fans worldwide.

With Buffalo's DJ Kholes as his DJ, the Butcher took the stage and gave the world a taste of what it was like living and growing up in Buffalo, New York State's second-largest city.

Social media comments show that African hip-hop fans love Buffalo hip-hop just like we do, which again solidifies the 716 as the home of New York rap.
