Go Getta of the Week: Schondra Aytch Is Preserving Buffalo’s Hip-Hop Culture One Story at a Time
Buffalo’s creative scene has always had people working behind the curtain to make sure the culture keeps moving. This week’s Go Getta of the Week, Schondra Aytch, is one of those people.
Known throughout Buffalo as a content creator, music writer, curator, and organizer, Schondra has spent her last few years documenting the city’s music scene while building platforms that intentionally highlight women in Hip-Hop and R&B culture. Through Sneakvibing Media, she has created a digital space centered around rising artists, honest commentary, music discovery, and cultural storytelling rooted directly in Buffalo.
What began as a passion project eventually grew into something much larger. Sneakvibing Media became a trusted platform for independent artists and creatives looking for genuine support and visibility within an often overlooked market. With the tagline “Ran By Women, Powered By Tha Culture,” the platform reflects both Schondra’s voice and her commitment to making sure women remain part of the conversation surrounding Hip-Hop’s evolution.
That same energy lives within The Ladies First Project, Sneakvibing Media’s annual women in Hip-Hop celebration. Inspired by Queen Latifah’s classic record “Ladies First,” the event honors women across Buffalo and Western New York who contribute to music, media, poetry, visual art, education, and community culture.
Now entering its fourth year, the celebration has become one of the city’s standout creative gatherings. This year’s event, taking place June 7 at Duende at Silo City, will feature live performances, visual art, short-form interviews, and conversations highlighting women who continue shaping Buffalo’s cultural identity through their work.
The honorees represent different backgrounds and creative disciplines, but all share a commitment to pushing culture forward while building community at the same time.
For continuing to amplify artists, create meaningful spaces, and celebrate the women helping shape Buffalo’s creative future, Schondra Aytch is this week’s Go Getta of the Week.
