More convenient for drivers? Yes. More efficient for NYS ... apparently NOT. There are reportedly $2.4 Million in un-collected tolls since the Cashless Toll system has been implemented in Grand Island.
According to News Reports, State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli says that pictures of license plates, which are takewn as cars pass the new toll electronic technology, are not clear enough to identify drivers. DiNapoli said:
"There were some other situations where there weren't clear agreements with other states. When you have an out of state driver, you need that information from the other state's department of motor vehicles.”
