Did A Tornado Hit Grand Island, New York?
One of the things that we are used to in Western New York is the unpredictable weather. Especially this time of year, when the weather changes from summer to fall and winter, it can go from hot to cold and dry to wet in a matter of minutes.
After as string of good September weather days, the Buffalo area got hit with winds and heavy rain on Monday, September 9, 2024, and it seems that something that used to be pretty rare in the region apparently happened again.

According to some social media reports, a tornado hit Grand Island, New York, on Monday. Officials from the National Weather Service are set to investigate today, but is it just me, or does it seem like New York State is the new tornado alley in America?
A few Grand Island residents caught what clearly looks like a funnel cloud coming onto the island from Lake Erie and the Niagara River. Was this another waterspout, or will it be classified as our 29th tornado of the year?
Just when you thought the only bad weather we needed to worry about was winter snow and summer heat domes, tornados are now a concern.

The National Weather Service is seeking individuals to provide them with more information about what you may have seen yesterday. If you have seen severe weather lately, such as wind damage, hail, tornado/funnel clouds, flooded roads, etc., send those details to the NWS along with the time and location of where it happened.
Dorothy once said that it seemed like she was not in Kansas anymore. That's probably because Buffalo has moved from the northeast to Kansas.
