Calle 13 is a Puerto Rican band formed by step brothers René Pérez Joglar who calls himself - Residente and Eduardo Jose Cabra who calls himself - Visitante and their half - sister Ileana Cabra Joglar aka pg13.

Seems rapper René Pérez Joglar feels the hip hop game has become to materialistic – so he decided to destroy his Maserati in his latest video – Adentro.

Now, the video is in Spanish so I don’t know word for word what he was saying. However, no words are needed when you see legendary baseball player Willie Mays hand René a bat and then René beats up his brand new Maserati, which cost over $100,000.00 – rite before he drives it off a cliff as seen in his latest video.

Also the point that there’s more to life than fancy things does not fall on death ears but if you were that against spending an unnecessary amount of money on material things - why buy it in the 1st place? To me destroying a car that cost that much is just as bad as buying it – no matter the message behind the idea you are still showing off either way.

René tells tmz, "I bought the Maserati because I myself fell victim to the stereotypes. I thought that once I had a nice house and a nice car that meant I had made it in the entertainment industry. “He adds, "When I started using the car, it made me feel uncomfortable owning it ... because I realized that the car stood for everything that is wrong with society ... Material goods aren't what makes life worthwhile."

Calle 13 – Adentro

To me the rapper would have made a better point if he donated the car to a charity he believed in. Destroying a car worth over $100,000.00 for a video makes you this week’s JERK OF THE WEEK.

What do you think? Did the group Calle 13 over do it by destroying his Maserati – just to prove a point?
