These Three New Yorkers Control The Fate Of The Nation
The last week or so in American politics has been quite treacherous as the people who are in control of our federal government are struggling to maintain control of the people's business.
As the latest federal government shutdown looks like it's going to stretch into its seventh day, people from Maine to Montana are feeling the pain as 536 people we've elected to handle our affairs are themselves having a hard time doing so.
Ultimately, the federal government is closed for business because members of the US Congress cannot agree on how to fund the affairs of the United States of America.

On one side, President Trump and Congressional Republicans blame Democrats for the shutdown, accusing them of wanting to put people who have entered the country illegally ahead of everyday Americans. While Hakeem Jeffries, Chuck Schumer, and Democrats cast blame on the Republicans for seeking to increase healthcare costs for millions of Americans while giving massive tax breaks to the ultra-rich.
While there's no consensus on why we are here, there are two things that are clear:
- It's the people of America who are hurting because of it, and
- It seems the three men who need to agree on a resolution have something unique in common.
There is a saying that you often hear around the country when it comes to things happening and the Empire State, that saying: there is always a New York connection, rings especially try here because the three men who need to get on the same page for America, are all from the great state of New York.

While many people around the nation think of Donald Trump as a down-home guy who understands the plight of the average man, this is the farthest from the truth. President Trump was born into one of the richest and most powerful families in Queens, New York, and attended the poshest private schools before inheriting millions of dollars from his father while on his way to becoming one of America's elite.
Many more people think the opposite of Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer, accusing them of being elitist who only care about the rich, while this couldn't be further from reality. Both Jeffries and Schumer were born and raised in lower-income and working-class neighborhoods in Brooklyn and attended public schools before going to university.
Regardless of what side of the political debate you fall on, and who you blame for it, one thing is for sure: it hinges on New York to fix it.
