New Yokers need to check their freezers as a popular ice cream brand has issued a recall. There have been quite a few food recalls affecting our state lately. It seems like nothing is safe.

Chicken Sausage Recall
Kayem Foods Inc. of Chelsea, Massachusetts, is recalling approximately 24,173 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken sausage products. The products pose a hazard to New Yorkers who consume them. The chicken sausage is contaminated with a foreign object, specifically white pieces of plastic.

Pulled Pork Recall
A public health alert was issued for pulled pork products sold at Hannaford grocery stores in New York. Unfortunately, for people with allergies, nothing seems to be safe. Too many companies have issued recalls due to undeclared allergens, which could potentially kill someone with allergies. In this case, the pulled pork products have undeclared allergens.

Turkey Bacon Recall
Bacon lovers, check your refrigerator or freezer. There is a massive bacon recall that affects New York. The bacon at the center of the recall is potentially contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, which can pose a health threat to New Yorkers.

Popular Ice Cream Recall In New York Due To Health Threat

The Rich Ice Cream Co. of West Palm Beach, Florida, has issued a recall for a variety of ice cream products, according to the FDA. The products at the center of the recall include Chocolate Crunch Cake Bars, Cool Watermelon Bars, Cotton Candy Twirl Bars, Crumbled Cookie Bars, Fudge Frenzy Bars, Rich Bars, Orange Cream Bars, Savagely Sour Blue Raspberry Bars, Savagely Sour Cherry Bars, and Strawberry Shortcake Bars. The affected lot numbers are 24351 through 25156.

More than 110,292 cases of the Rich Ice Cream Co.'s various ice cream bars may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. It can be especially harmful to pregnant women, children, and the elderly,

"Listeriosis can cause fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms. Persons in the higher-risk categories who experience flu-like symptoms within two months after eating contaminated food should seek medical care and tell the health care provider about eating the contaminated food."

The recall affects products sold in New York, as well as, Alabama, Arizona, California, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Nassau, Bahamas.
