This federal administration touted $2,000 tariff rebate checks at one point, but as of the publication of this article, there have been no checks mailed out to New York Families. Governor Kathy Hochul plans to change that. She recently announced her intention to recoup the money New York families are owed due to tariffs increasing prices.
“The Supreme Court has now said these tariffs are flat out illegal. It was done in violation of law… and New Yorkers have paid more than they should have under an illegal scheme that the Supreme Court has now struck down. So I am demanding, with a letter going to Secretary of Treasury Bessent today, demanding the full refund for New Yorkers, for individual families, to the tune of $13.5 billion. We believe we are owed this. This is separate from individual businesses."
Gov. Hochul says that families in New York State paid $1,750 more, on average, due to tariffs. I know I can sure use a check! The prices of everything have gone up, and it's making life harder for New Yorkers. Make America Affordable Again!
