This strange news story from earlier this spring has taken another step towards being resolved.

Savannah Karcz of Silver Creek, New York, pleaded guilty in New York State Supreme Court to 1 count of 3rd Degree Assault, which is a Class A Misdemeanor.

Ms. Karcz admitted in court that back on the morning of Saturday, May 1, 2021, that she attempted to enter Delaware Park with her vehicle which had been closed to car traffic since the COVID-19 Pandemic began in 2020. When she wasn't able to gain access to the car, she got angry and started an altercation with a Buffalo Police Lieutenant. During that altercation, she started to slam her hands on the patrol car, took off her shirt, got into the Lieutenant’s face yelling, and then proceeded to attack him. During the attack, she then hit the Officer in the head with a bullhorn. The Officer was treated at the Erie County Medical Center for his injuries.

Any assault on a police officer will not be tolerated. I hope that the victim feels that justice has been served by this defendant pleading guilty today
-John Flynn, District Attorney for Erie County

The 21-year-old Silver Creek woman is due back in court on January 10, 2022, to be sentenced. She faces a maximum criminal penalty of 1 year in jail.
