Influenza season is normally considered to be in February, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), with children under 5 carrying the greatest risk for complications upon getting the flu.

How can you protect yourself from getting the flu?  According to the CDC, flu vaccination is the answer and the most effective means of protection.  However, because there are so many people skeptical about getting 'the dreaded flu shot', the virus spreads ever year and people get sick.

Here is a list of flu symptoms, according to the CDC (but to be absolutely certain that you the flu).

  • Fever or feeling feverish/chills
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue
  • Vomiting and diarrhea (more common in children than adults)
