Fantasy Island Is Permanently Closed

Fantasy Island Amusement Park in Grand Island closing its doors after 59 years in business.

According to news reports, a company called Apex Parks Group, which owns Fantasy Island Amusement Park, was reportedly selling rides initially...but now they're shutting down completely, according to the amusement park's website FantasyIslandNY.com.

There were earlier news stories in which it was rumored that the company that owns Fantasy Island, the Apex Parks Group, was selling some of Fantasy Island's rides, but that's all changed now.  The company released the following statement today:

"Despite significant effort and a great deal of investment in infrastructure, rides and new themed areas, we have not seen an improvement in operating results. As such, we made the difficult decision to cease operations. This was not a decision entered into lightly. Team members are being assisted by their supervisors and the company is working to minimize impact to those affected.
