The Buffalo Common Council approved a proposal that cracks down on predatory car booting in the city.

This is something a lot of buffalonians have complained about lately: being overcharged by some towing companies to get boot locks taken off of car wheels.

Now, the boot removal fee will be capped at $75 maximum. Also, towing companies are now required to have a 24 hour telephone number for drivers, and a valid license to boot peoples' cars, or face fines of their own.
