May is traditionally Buffalo Bike Month and this year is no different.  The weather is finally conducive to you getting out the air pump and inflate  those bike tires and get out and enjoy our short-lived Spring / Summer.

If you're a biking fanatic you may have heard about the Free Buffalo Bike Month Breakfast at the Lasalle Train Station location to kick-off Buffalo Bike month.  According to  The event was sponsored this morning, from 7a-9a, by GObike Buffalo, Reddy Bikeshare, and University Heights Collaborative.

If you missed today's breakfast, no worries...there are several events planned all summer that you can take full advantage of according to the GObike Buffalo Calendar of Events as follows:

  • Campus Cycling Collective (CCC) Tuesday Night Group Rides
  • Dare to Repair Café: Bicycle Edition

  • Bike breakfasts
  • CycloFemme Road Ride
  • Explore Buffalo Bicycle Tours: Silo Spin

There also a pretty cool Bike To Work Week incentive event, according to GObike Buffalo. Here's what they shared on their website:

“Whether it’s for a day, a week or all month long, take the Bike to Work Week Pledge at and commit to commuting by bike during May — you’ll be entered to win some cool swag, such as an annual family pass to Explore Buffalo! Go the extra mile and participate in the Bike Month Challenge. Check in at biking events throughout Buffalo (full schedule will be available at during May for the chance to win our grand prize — a new bike, courtesy of our friends at Campus Wheelworks!”

i came across an organization called the World Bicycle Relief, which makes bikes called Buffalo Bikes.  I searched for info as to how these bikes became to be known as Buffalo Bikes but couldn't really find much other than their extensive website which doesn't seem to suggest they are made in or from Buffalo, NY.
