When I met A$AP Rocky just before he launched the Tour with Rihanna, he was very confident, silly, yet guarded. In this recent interview, three years later he shows a softer side and opens up about some personal tragedies and why he named his upcoming project ALLA.

After a triumphant set at Milk Music Lounge during SXSW, A$AP Rocky revealed to Billboard that his next studio album would be named A.L.L.A. and that it would include collaborators like FKA Twigs, Lykke Li, and Clams Casino. Well, now we know what A.L.L.A. stands for.

He told GQ Magazine:

"I'm claiming ownership of my legacy. Look at it: At.Long.Last.A$AP. A-L-L-A. Like slang for 'Allah.' It's the return of the god MC. I'm named after Rakim, and I'm finally facing what it means: I was born to do this shit. And I hope I get to do it for a very long time." FYI, the rap legend Rakim also goes by Rakim Allah, and Rocky's real name is Rakim Meyers.
