What’s Open and What’s Closed on Memorial Day 2015
Memorial Day marks the unofficial start to summer, and after the long (and crazy) winter Western New York has had we're more than ready for barbecues, parades, trips to amusement parks and, in general, just enjoying time in the sun with family. And most importantly, Memorial Day means honoring our nation’s veterans.
If you end up going out and about to celebrate this Memorial Day, here is a list of what’s opened and closed in Buffalo.
Banks: Closed
Post Offices: Closed
Government Offices: Closed
Schools: Closed
Trash pickup: Closed
Zoos and Museums
Buffalo Zoo: Open normal hours (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
Buffalo Museum of Science: Open normal hours (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
Albright-Knox Art Gallery: Closed Mondays
Burchfield Penney Art Center: Closed Mondays
Malls
Boulevard Mall: Open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., department store and restaurant hours may vary
Eastern Hills Mall: Open 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., department store, restaurant and cinema hours may vary
McKinley Mall: Open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Walden Galleria: Open 10 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. (call to verify)
Theme Parks
Darien Lake Amusement Park: Open 10:30 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Martin’s Fantasy Island: Open 11:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. (the water park, however, will not be open)
As for golf courses, theaters, libraries, restaurants and bars, they will all – in most cases – be open, so double check specific hours and feel free to enjoy leisurely (and responsibly in the case of the latter).
