New York State has added a new Holiday Hunt for deer hunters that has pushed back the start of the snowmobile season in our area. It is a moot point this year because of the lack of snow that we are facing in Western New York. But when the snow starts to pile up and the trails open (based on landowner and club approval) there are some things you should keep in mind when you hop on your sled for the first time this year.

Everything You Need To Know For Snowmobiling In WNY

There are some amazing clubs inn the Western New York area that keep the trails in top condition.

The past year was wet and warm in the late fall. Now that the winter has officially arrived, the weather pattern is changing and there is hope for a good round of lake effect snow. If you have a sled, I completely understand the frustrations that you are facing as we wait for snow. But the positive of a warmer fall is that the great lakes stay warmer and up the chances for heavy snow in January and February. The forecast is calling for snow and now is the time to gas up the sled and get it registered and insured and be ready for the clubs to open the trails.

Snowmobiling is so much fun. But it can be dangerous if you are not prepared or know a few things first. There is a youth class that is coming up in January and would be a great way for your kids to learn the basics and get a handle on the ins and outs of being on a sled. Details below.
