The current Buffalo Bills team is 5-1, which is good for the best record in the AFC.

The Bills have made the playoffs four of the past five seasons, which includes the past three seasons. This coming on the heels of a 17-year playoff drought, which went from 2000-2016.

The current Bills team is beloved but there may be a misconception that fans here don't like the drought Bills, which is what they're commonly called in Western New York.

That isn't true at all.

Fans here adore those Bills teams. They didn't win enough games to ever make the postseason, but so many players have gone on to be remembered fondly by Buffalo.

Stevie Johnson, Lee Evans, Fred Jackson, Scott Chandler, George Wilson, Roscoe Parrish, Terrence McGee, Tyrod Taylor are all loved by Bills Mafia, as are the players who spent much of their career in the drought but did get to finally play in a playoff game, like Eric Wood and Kyle Williams.

Ryan Fitzpatrick may be the most beloved "drought" Bills player, outside of Fred Jackson.

Fitz played here from 2009-2012. He started out as Trent Edwards backup quarterback but became the official starter in week 3 of the 2010 season.

Fitz's best time in Buffalo was the start the Bills had in the 2011 season, when they beat the likes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles and yes, the New England Patriots.

The Bills pulled off an amazing second half comeback and beat the Patriots 34-31, on a last second field goal by Rian Lindell.

Many Bills fans might not know what happened immediately after the win.

Fitzpatrick, who is now a studio analyst on Amazon Prime's Thursday Night Football, went on Barstool's podcast with Big Cat and PFT Commentator, and retold the story of why he hates former Patriots and current Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB, Tom Brady.

Fitz says that Brady threw five interceptions and never went to midfield to shake his hand, but instead ran off the field.

"He just pisses me off," said Fitzpatrick.

"You're in Buffalo, playing New England and they're kicking our ass every year, just beating us. Finally in 2011, we knocked them off. We had this great start.

"He threw five interceptions in the game, which was just wonderful to see, and...just runs straight off," added Fitzpatrick.

"It bothered me so much, because there was no respect there," added Fitzpatrick.

This all stemmed from the fact that they were thinking Brady's comment recently, before the 2020 season, where Brady said in response to him being shunned at the last second by a team in free agency and he said "you're keeping that motherf***er?"

Fitzpatrick still thinks he was that guy Brady was referencing and not Derek Carr, which is what many people assumed.

Fitz doesn't mind opening up and boy, this is him opening up. Buffalo Bills fans want him on the Wall of Fame tomorrow.
