NYSED Cancels Regents Exam Due to COVID-19

The New York State Education Department has cancelled the Regents Exam due to the coronavirus.

The New York State Education Department announced the decision to cancel the exam today, Thursday, November 5, 2020. According to WKBW, the high school Regents Exam, which was slated for January 2021, was scrapped due to COVID-19. The decision includes all Regents Exams for January 2021, but nothing has been decided for the Regents Exams in June or August of next year.

The New York State Education Department will propose changes to the requirements for diplomas and more,

Due to the cancellation of the January 2021 Regents Examinations, the Department will propose modifications to the assessment requirements that students must meet in order to earn high school diplomas, credentials, and endorsements at the December Board of Regents meeting. These modifications apply to all students who are completing a secondary-level course of study or make-up program in January and are scheduled to participate in one or more of the January 2021 Regents Examinations.
