New York State Has A Major Issue With Rats

There has been a serious problem all over New York State for the last several years and it has gotten so bad that some officials in the Empire State have decided its time to declare war.

Albany, Buffalo, Syracuse, and New York City all have ranked quite high on lists naming the cities with the biggest rat problems in the country. However those problems aren't just limited to the largest cities in the Empire State, smaller cities like Niagara Falls and towns like Cheektowaga also have notable issues with the long-tailed rodents.

Things are so bad that New York has even enacted a series of new laws that are aimed at the way people handle their trash, in an attempt to reduce a major food source for the animals.

That's probably needed because we've all heard about the rat that was recorded on video taking a slice of pizza down into a subway station.

New York City is even in the process of hiring a Rat Czar whose sole job will be to try and eradicate the rat problem that exists in the Big Apple. According to reporting by the Washington Post, there has been more than a 70% increase in rat sightings.

The Mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, has even gone to publically declare his hatred for the mammals that are infesting various areas in our state.

Whoever is hired to become the new Director of Rodent Mitigation will earn a pretty decent paycheck, with a salary range between $120k and $170k per year, but they have their work cut out for them. The job posting describes this job as needing to be available 24/7 and the right person will have lots of stamina because this new War on Rats isn't for the faint of heart.
