I hope you're prepared to suffer! It looks like New Yorkers are gearing up for a pretty miserable summer. Maybe it's climate change, maybe New York is the new hell. The Old Farmer's Almanac makes predictions for each season in each region, and New York's isn't looking real appealing. Summer officially kicks off on Friday, June 20, 2025.

While I have always hated New York (Buffalo to be exact) winters, I do love the "mild" summers. By mild, I mean compared to the infernos of the southwest and south. Nothing can give you a taste of hell like dry temperatures of 110 degrees Fahrenheit or even 90 degrees Fahrenheit with 100 percent humidity. Summer is NOT my favorite season for that reason. To me, summers are like the hot person who catches your eye, but then you realize they are a complete A-hole. Summer may seem appealing, but once you're sweating 20 minutes after your shower at 9 am, you tend to reconsider.

New York Will Be A Tale Of 2 Hells This Summer

I made the mistake of looking at the Old Farmer's Almanac's predictions for summer 2025. No matter where you live in New York, it's supposed to be miserable! Some parts of the state, namely the Western New York and the Northern New York regions, are predicted to be "hot and rainy." Anyone who has lived in the south knows that rain often brings humidity, and humidity paired with heat is a recipe for unhappiness, especially for New Yorkers, who aren't used to it.

The bulk of the state is looking at "hot and dry" temps. I wish I could say that is better, but as someone who lived in the southwest, it isn't. Ideally, we would see a prediction of "mild and sunny," but nope, apparently, Mother Nature has it out for us. The Farmer's Almanac prediction isn't much better. Fun fact: There is a difference between the Old Farmer's Almanac and the Farmer's Almanac.
