Everyone wants to manage their money better and save, so I'm embarking on a series of interviews with KeyBank about financial fitness. You can catch them on air between 10 am and 2 pm each Thursday or online HERE.

In a recent interview with Kawanza Humphrey, senior vice president of KeyBank, we discussed how KeyBank is encouraging healthy eating habits, home-cooking, and how that can have a positive impact on your budget. You can listen to the whole thing here:

Kawanza started off by talking a little bit about the program she's a part of with Independent Health:

It's aimed at engaging families in developing healthy eating habits, so the families are going to receive ingredients, recipes, and virtual cooking demonstrations for healthy meals to serve up to 6 people.

I then asked her why KeyBank is supporting this program:

We're doing this because we understand that access to healthy food options is important for the overall health and wellbeing of the families in our community. This program ensures that more families will be able to eat well, stay healthy, and learn about the different kinds of food in a really fun and unique way.

She also discussed some of the research behind families that cook and eat together:

Families that cook and eat together are more likely to eat healthier foods and are less likely to be overweight. We also can't forget that eating at home definitely has a positive impact on your budget.
