Everyone wants to manage their money better and save, so I'm embarking on a series of interviews with KeyBank about financial fitness. You can catch them on air between 10 am and 2 pm each Thursday or online HERE.

In a recent interview with Ethan Grant, branch manager of KeyBank's Chippewa location, we discussed how timing is everything when it comes to making purchases big and small and how there's always ways to save a buck.

You can listen to the full interview here:

My first question for Ethan had to do with buying cars and I really liked the advice he had to give for this one:

The end of the year is the best time to save on cars. October, November, and December are generally when dealerships start to stock next year's models. If you don't want to wait until the end of the year, you can also step foot into a car lot on a weekday when things are slower at the dealership. The end of the month is also a good time to negotiate a deal. Sales managers need to hit their monthly quotas before the month's end.

What about buying clothes? Are there any good strategies to save money when purchasing some new threads? Here's what Ethan says:

Think all seasons. January is the best month to start saving money on winter coats. However, the longer you wait before spring to replace your winter coat, the deeper the discount you may be able to score. For summer clothing, just wait until August when retailers are eager to clear their existing selections in anticipation of the new lines for the fall.

Last but not least, we had to talk about ways to save money on electronics like TVs:

The week surrounding Black Friday is a good time to get the best deals on TVs, but you can also take advantage of some serious discounts in the week leading up to the Super Bowl as stores are pushing to get rid of existing inventory to make room for newer models.
