A messy storm is expected to hit WNY today and Friday.

The storm is in our area and is expected to pick up in severity today (February 6) into Friday, according to WIVB.

"Expect snow showers to redevelop late Thursday night into Friday. There may be another brief window of an icy mix at this time. Mainly snow showers will be the focus Friday, with mainly manageable accumulations of several inches possible throughout the day." ~ WIVB

The Thursday morning commute can possibly become messy and dangerous, with icy roads and freezing rain. WGRZ predicts that the snow will come in two waves, with the accumulation of sleet and freezing rain being a concern.

"Snowfall totals from both rounds combined between Wednesday night and Friday evening could reach 5 to 9 inches in the Niagara Frontier. Areas of the Southern Tier should expect 2 to 5 inches." ~ WGRZ
