Is New York’s Favorite Carnival Game Going All Virtual?
As of now, there are NO plans for any switch to all virtual carnival games like I Got It. But what if the games you love had to make changes to be more germ free?
Who doesn't love a good game off "I Got It"? It could be the single reason that you go to a carnival, lawn fete or county fair? As a matter of fact, it is one of the largest attractions and games at both the Erie County Fair and the New York State Fair. But what will "I Got It" look like in the future?
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed so many things over the last couple of years. From mask and vaccine mandates to the way we shop and go to restaurants, we have all had to adapt to the new way of doing things. Many of us who were not "germ freaks" before are now washing hands and are more germ aware than before. But will the pandemic affect the way we play our favorite games? As of now, there doesn't appear to be a plan to change the game "I Got It" in it's current form. But perhaps there will be and should be a day that we play it virtually? It would be a large start up cost but since everything else seems to be going toward a more tech based set up it doesn't seem like too much of a stretch to have carnival games do the same.
"I Got It" is one of the most fun and yet most frustrating games at the fairs and lawn fetes. How is it possible that you are always just one ball away from winning when someone yells out, "I got it"? That is brutal. But, it keeps you coming back for more. I once won a basketball playing "I Got It" and you would have thought I won the Super Bowl I was so excited!
As for now, we can all look forward to playing the best carnival game in the same way we grew up playing. But there may be a generation of fair goers that touch a screen for "ball number 2".
