Community: The William-Emslie YMCA Needs Your Donations for its Food to Families Program
The William-Emslie YMCA has teamed up with the Food Bank of Western New York and WGRZ Channel 2 to help fight hunger this holiday season with the Food to Families program. They need your help with donations! Plus, get registered for the Turkey Trot! Get the details here!
An annual event that’s become a Thanksgiving tradition, the YMCA Turkey Trot helps support kids and families across Western New York. Proceeds from the Turkey Trot help make YMCA programs and services accessible to people in our community who would otherwise not be able to afford the full costs. Last year the Turkey Trot raised $300,000 and that goes to benefit families here in WNY through the YMCA. The Y is also asking all YMCA Turkey Trot participants to bring non-perishable donations with them to packet pick-up at the Independent Health Family Branch YMCA (150 Tech Drive, Amherst), November 20-22. Donation bins will also be available on race day, November 23 at the Delaware YMCA and inside at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.
Last year Food to Families collected 2,729 pounds of food, providing over 2,200 meals for needy families in WNY! You can drop off canned goods and non-perishable food items to the William-Emslie YMCA at 585 William Street in Buffalo from now till November 30!
