Town Rundown: Looking for Free Family Fun? Reading in the Park Returns to Buffalo

You can never say there is nothing to do here in Buffalo, because daily I am running down to you the great things that are going on right here in Buffalo.

So if you're looking for something fun, free, and educational to do with the kids this summer, have no fear, Reading in the Park is here!

Join Second Chapter Bookstore for the Reading in the Park series, creating a space where children can enjoy books, build a love for reading, and spend time outdoors with their family and the community.

The weekly event kicks off Wednesday, July 8, and runs every Wednesday through August 12, from 6 p'.m. to 7 p.m. at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park.

The location that everyone will gather and meet is at the playground closest to the splash pad.

With this amazing program, each week youth will enjoy storytime in the park, free books while supplies last, healthy snacks, enjoy the outdoor fun, and a chance to grow and build a lifelong love of reading.

Thanks to the great sponsorship of Legislator Lawrence J. Dupre, the books are all free! He has helped to ensure more children have books they can take home and enjoy long after storytime ends.

When I was younger, I was a part of a summer reading program, and it encouraged me to want to read more, and I feel this program will do just that. This program is the perfect time to encourage kids to explore the world through reading. Whether your child is an early reader or simply enjoys listening to stories, this is a great opportunity to make literacy part of your family's summer routine.
