The weekend events include the annual Black-tie Gala on Saturday, November 18th and a Gospel Brunch on Sunday, November 19th. Also, for the first time, the Buffalo Urban League will raffle off of a brand new 2018 Chevrolet Camaro or a $15,000 cash option. “This is a milestone anniversary for the Buffalo Urban League. Expanding our annual gala to a full weekend with a Gospel Brunch will provide a special thank-you to the community for the last 90 years and celebrate our future, ” said President & CEO Brenda W. McDuffie. “After 90 years, we are blessed to be here, be relevant and serve the community with meaningful programs and services that reach more than 20,000 individuals annually.

Susie Pieri, gala chair and board member said, “The Buffalo Urban League’s annual galas are always the event that people want to attend and it’s a real testament to how the League brings the entire community together. With this year’s anniversary we are going to have an awesome celebration at the gala and the gospel brunch.”

The Buffalo Urban League gala is the premiere black-tie event in Western New York. This year, the League will honor outstanding members and organizations in the community including:

 Michael W. Reville will receive the President’s Award;
 Jim Horne will receive the William L. Evans & Whitney M. Young Award;
 General Motors Tonawanda Engine Plant and Local UAW 774, and Jack & Jill of America, Inc. Buffalo Chapter will receive Community Service Awards;
 Kenneth and Sharon Holley, and Chris and Mary Ross will receive Family Life Awards, and
 Dalejha S. Drayton and Javelle A. Thompson will receive Outstanding Youth Awards.

The gospel brunch will feature the New Beginning Choral Ensemble lead by Ella Robinson and special guests Mitchell McCleod and violinist Henri Muhammad. “It gives us all the strength and encouragement knowing we have the Buffalo Urban League standing strong and making a difference, especially for the most vulnerable,” said Dr. James Lewis, gospel brunch chair and board member.

The Buffalo Urban League’s 90th Anniversary Weekend will take place at the Adam’s Mark located at 120 Church Street in downtown Buffalo. The gala starts at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 18th and the gospel brunch is on Sunday, November 19th from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
