"The Registrar at National Day Calendar proclaimed National Youth Confidence Day to be observed annually on October 20. Tiffany R. Lewis, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Confident Girl Mentoring Program, Inc. (CGMP) founded National Youth Confidence Day to encourage a strong foundation of positive relationships to mentor today’s youth. Building a framework of positive role models is vital to developing responsible, confident young adults. National Youth Confidence Day
encourages us to “Connect and Inspire Today’s Youth for Tomorrow’s Success”.
CGMP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that utilizes evidence-based interventions to empower and build confidence in girls ages 7-19 in New York State. CGMP, Inc. is nationally recognized by MENTOR’s Mentoring Connector as a best practice for mentoring. MENTOR is the unifying champion for expanding quality youth mentoring relationships in the United States. CGMP serviced over 1,000 youth and improved self-esteem by 32.75%. CGMP works to strengthen youth’s level of confidence and
provide them with a vision to see beyond barriers as they open their minds to new ways of thinking and see the world is much broader and more diverse than their community. When youth have spent a whole day with CGMP they leave saying, I am a strong, beautiful, and a confident youth empowered!
Tiffany Lewis stated- “As a youth advocate and leader, mentoring programs give us each a chance to contribute to the youth in our communities by providing guidance, friendship and life experience of a mentor. This day is more than just a national day. The day is an acknowledgment of all they will accomplish. Guidance, leadership and mentors will help light the path, and today’s youth will navigate the
obstacles that will inevitably lay before them. It’s a Celebration of Confidence”!
National Youth Confidence Day will be celebrated in collaboration with Say Yes Buffalo Strong Community Schools and supported by a number of sponsors and partners, including New York State Senator Tim Kennedy, Assemblywoman Crystal People-Stokes, Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, CAO of Buffalo & Erie County, HOPE Buffalo, YourCare, Watts Architecture & Engineering, Buffalo Public Schools, Destiny’s Pizzeria and area youth.
