The Ending the HIV Epidemic Outreach Committee is reaching out to the community for a BACK to SCHOOL Barbershop and Testing event on September 6th, from 3 to 5pm, to coincide with the start of the school year. Outreach workers and HIV testers on hand, partnering with Choppafellaz and Cut it Close, will include people from Evergreen Health, Community Access Services, MOCHA, ECMC, Kaleida Health Youth Link, Harvest House, Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York, Erie 1 BOCES/Leaving Our Legacy, and Erie County Department of Health. In addition to HIV testing, outreach workers will be on hand to discuss and make referrals for PrEP[1] and PEP[2], and to explain the benefits to the community from U=U[3].
**The $5 haircut discount that is applied comes directly from each individual barber’s pockets, demonstrating their interest in and commitment to the community, and their desire to end the HIV epidemic.
