With the school year getting ready to end, a lot of people are thinking about getting ready for summer. Some folks, like graduating high school seniors, may be thinking about college and how to pay for it.

There are loans and financial aid, but also scholarships are a part of the conversation. To help students pay with costs, the Buffalo Urban League is offering college scholarship awards and they have extended the application deadline to Monday, April 26, 2021.

It's important to use that every young adult has an opportunity to go for higher education and we're glad that we have the opportunity to offer these scholarships and extend the deadline.

Awards can range from $250 to $4,000 and can be issued as either a one-time payment or as a four-year payment.

We really want to congratulate students on their hard work and taking the time to dedicate themselves to advancing in life and we want to help them with these scholarships because we know how hard it is to pay for vocational school and college.
-Anedra Harper, Youth and Education Program Coordinator for the Buffalo Urban League

In order to be eligible for a scholarship, you have to be a High School senior or have recently obtained your High School Equalivanciy, and you plan to attend college or a vocational school in the fall of 2021.

You'll need to complete a scholarship application, which is available on the Buffalo Urban League website here, or you can pick on up from their offices which are located in downtown Buffalo. For more information, you can contact them here.

The original application deadline was Friday, April 2nd; but because the need is so great, they have extended the deadline to April 26th. However, don't wait until the last minute because funding is limited.
