Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced that a teenager has been indicted for bringing a loaded gun onto a Buffalo high school campus. The 15-year-old male was arraigned on Thursday, February 17, 2022, before Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan. He has been charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

On Thursday, December 16, 2021, the teenager allegedly had the gun inside a backpack on the campus of Bennett Community School Campus on Main Street in Buffalo. Police were called to the school around 11 am. The juvenile is due back in court on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at 2:00 pm. He was released on $25,000 bail.

District Attorney John Flynn said,

While I am thankful that no one was injured during this incident, this teenager is accused of committing one of the most concerning and serious offenses - bringing a loaded handgun into school. Anyone who commits or threatens to commit a crime at any school in Erie County will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
