The Buffalo Bills Could Have The Biggest “X-Factor” In The NFL In 2022

The Buffalo Bills will kick off training camp at St. John Fisher University in Rochester on Sunday morning. The veterans will report to training camp on Saturday, as the team prepares for their first camp at St. John Fisher since 2019.

The Bills could have the best offense in 2022. They return almost all of their weapons from 2021, including Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, Gabriel Davis, Dawson Knox, Isaiah McKenzie, and Devin Singletary.

Cole Beasley and Emmanuel Sanders both left but the Bills added Jamison Crowder and O.J. Howard at wide receiver and tight end, respectively.

Crowder will fill the slot role Beasley vacated, but is a few years younger and should be a nice addition to the offense.

The biggest addition to the offense, however, might have come at the running back position.

The Bills selected Georgia running back James Cook in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft and a big reason why general manager Brandon Beane made the pick was because of Cook's upside as a pass receiver,

Cook dominated linebackers and safeties in the SEC in 2020 and 2021 and his potential as a pass-catcher could pay off for a Bills team who could really use that threat out of the backfield.

Devin Singletary will likely lead the team in carries this season, but Cook's value as a pass catcher means he provides the more explosive plays, especially split out wide.

Cook could be the biggest X-factor in the AFC this season and perhaps the entire NFL on offense.

He's only 195 lbs, so he won't be an every-down back who will carry the ball 20-25 times per game, but do not be surprised if he has 1,000-1,200 all-purpose yards this season and in the playoffs.
