This week was the five year anniversary of Sean McDermott being hired as head coach of the Buffalo Bills.

To say it's gone well, would be an understatement. McDermott has made the playoffs four of his first five seasons, including the last three, where he's won the AFC East in back-to-back seasons. McDermott also ended the 17-year playoff drought in his first season as Bills head coach.

Anyone who has been around the team knows that McDermott is a tough-nosed coach who expects results and hold his players accountable. He's also someone that grows close to his players and the bond he's had with his Bills teams has been strong.

During Wednesday's interviews with the media, edge rusher Jerry Hughes and defensive tackle Ed Oliver spoke about their upcoming matchup with the New England Patriots, which will be the first full-capacity home playoff game in Orchard Park in over 25 years.

Oliver spoke about McDermott after a reporter asked the question of how much he's meant to the team, and Oliver said that while McDermott may not have saved his life, he most definitely saved his career.

Oliver was drafted 9th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft out of the University of Houston. He had ups and downs his first two seasons, but has really had a great season in 2021.

Oliver made sure to bring up the amazing football atmosphere in Buffalo and how it's been a blessing to be drafted by the Bills.

The Bills and Patriots will face one another for the first time in playoffs in the modern era (1970-present). Kickoff is at 8:15 pm on Saturday.
