Buffalo Bills Could Play on Black Friday or Christmas Next Season
The Buffalo Bills are 5-1 heading into their week 7 bye week. They're at the top of AFC standings with a one-game lead over the New York Jets in the AFC East and what is essentially a 1 1/2-game lead over the Kansas City Chiefs, since they now hold the head-to-head tiebreaker after their win at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Bills have an easier remaining schedule on paper, however, as we know in the NFL, nothing is guaranteed.
One of the Bills remaining games is on Thanksgiving Day against the Detroit Lions. It will mark the third Thanksgiving game in four years for Buffalo and the first in the 12:30 timeslot on Turkey Day.
Bills fans have mixed feelings on whether or not they like the Bills playing on Thanksgiving, but there's a chance Buffalo plays on Black Friday in 2023.
On Tuesday afternoon, the NFL announced that there will be a Black Friday NFL game, for the first time in history,
The game will be on Amazon Prime and likely at 3 pm.
The NFL will also have Christmas Day games, which could also mean the Bills play on that holiday; especially since they haven't yet done so in the first two years the league has done it (2021, 2022). The league will have three Christmas Day games this season.
Your guess is as good as mine for who will play in that Black Friday game, but with just how good the Bills are and the fact their prime time games pulls in huge ratings, it's reasonable to think the Bills are on the shortlist for teams who could participate in that game.
Some of the non-division home games for Buffalo in 2023 include the New York Giants, Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos. Maybe Brian Daboll's return yo Western New York on Black Friday?
Sounds like a storyline NFL fans can get behind, especially since Daboll is a Western New York native; not just the Bills former defensive coordinator.
