The Buffalo Bills are on a bye this week, which means players are away from the team facilities and getting a much-deserved vacation from the season.

That doesn't mean the coaches and front office personnel are, however, as they continue work at One Bills Drive in Orchard Park.

That includes general manager Brandon Beane, who could decide to make a trade before the November 1st deadline. The Bills are not a desperate team with a major need, but they are in a win-now mode and could become a buyer at the deadline for a championship.

In case you missed the news, a major trade happened late last night in the NFL.

The Carolina Panthers dealt star running back Christian McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks in the 2023 NFL Draft; along with a 5th round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

It's a massive price to give up for a running back, no matter how good that running back is. The 49ers feel like McCaffrey is worth it and will be a missing piece to their west coast offense.

The Bills were linked to McCaffrey and The NFL Network's Peter Schrager reported the Bills were initially interested in McCaffrey.

With McCaffrey out of the equation (and I'm glad Beane didn't give up that price for him), the Bills focus may shift entirely to wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr...but there's another running back the Bills could be interested in, and the price tag should be far lower.

This week, Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay announced the team is looking to trade running back Cam Akers, to give him a fresh start.

Akers recently requested a trade and has been unhappy with his role in the Rams offense.

Akers is a former 2nd round pick out of Florida State, who had an impressive rookie season in 2020, before tearing his Achilles tendon in the summer of 2021. He did return for the Rams postseason run, on their way to winning the Super Bowl, but has been a disappointment this season.

Darrell Henderson has carried the ball for the Rams this season, for the most part; while Akers has not seen much playing time.

The Bills have the second best odds to land Akers.

Some of those teams were also rumored or reported to be interested in McCaffrey (Bills, Broncos, Dolphins).

The price should be lower for Akers than McCaffrey. He will likely get traded since McVay said as much, but where will he land?
