R&B Greats Bell Biv Devoe Are Coming to Western New York
One of the best Hip Hop & R&B groups of all time is coming to Western New York and is going to help us close out the summer of 2022 in style.
For more than 30 years, Boston-born singers Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ronnie DeVoe have dazzled crowds with their voices and great dancing abilities.
The group initially rose to fame as members of the supergroup quintet New Edition in the early and mid-eighties. With New Edition, BBD was part of the hit songs Candy Girl, Cool It Now, and Mr. Telephone Man.
While New Edition went on a musical break in the late 80s, the group decided they weren't done with R&B music and later created BBD.
With help from producers Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Hank and Keith Shocklee, Dr. Freeze, Hiriam Hicks, and many others, Bell Biv DeVoe released their debut album as trio Poison.
BBD and the album Poison, which is a 4x Platinum-Certified record, is largely credited with reinvigorating the R&B/Hip Hop/Soul style of music called New Jack Swing.
The singles Poison, Do Me!, and B.B.D. (I Thought It Was Me)? helped to shape a generation of new R&B artists who began to release New Jack Swing music after the subgenre was created.
BBD will be bringing their New Jack Swing vibe to the area when they perform live in Niagara Falls on Friday, September 30, 2022, at the Seneca Niagara Events Center.
Tickets are on sale now and prices start at $45. The show is set to begin at 8p, with doors opening at 7p.
