
New York Woman Stabs 2 State Troopers
Two New York State Troopers were stabbed by a woman during an arrest. The incident started on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Crosby’s Gas Station in the village of Bolivar, located at 500 Main, Bolivar, NY 14715.

At 3:25 pm on Saturday, NYSP Troopers out of SP Amity responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at Crosby’s. Troopers identified the stolen 2000 black Chevy Silverado at a gas pump. Troopers approached the vehicle, which was driven by a 31-year-old woman. While officers tried to arrest Julia C. Groff of Bolivar, she allegedly became violent. Groff allegedly stabbed Trooper Jacob Klock, a 9-year-veteran, above the eye, and Trooper Michael Rich, an 11-year-veteran, in the head. Trooper Rich discharged his firearm, but Groff was not hit. Both Troopers were taken to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

Groff was taken into custody with minor injuries. She was charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault upon Police Officer, Menacing a Police Officer, Grand Larceny, Obstructing Governmental Administration, Resisting Arrest, and Criminal Possession Weapon. Groff was arraigned and is being held without bail at the Allegany County Jail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, May 21, at the Town of Bolivar Court.
