Wegmans has issued a recall for one of its popular salad kits. Wegmans issued the recall due to an allergen discovered in the kits, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Soledad, California-based Braga Fresh has voluntarily recalled a single production run of Wegmans Organic Sweet Kale Chopped Salad Kit in 8-ounce bags. The salad kits contain the wrong condiment ingredients which results in an undeclared allergen being included in the products. The salad kits contain egg, which is not listed on the label, so people with an allergy or sensitivity to eggs could face a serious or life-threatening reaction.
The 8-ounce Wegmans Organic Sweet Kale Chopped Salad Kits were sold in refrigerated display cases in the produce department. The affected kits have a UPC code 0 77890 55911 6, Best if Used By Date OCT 27, 2023, and Lot Code: BFFS282B4. The kits have been removed from store shelves, but may still be in consumers' refrigerators. The recall does not apply to any other Wegmans Organic or Braga Fresh products.
The kits were sold at Wegmans stores in New York State, as well as, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, Virginia, North Carolina, Delaware, and the District of Columbia between October 14 and October 17, 2023.
Consumers who have purchased one of the kits involved in the recall should not consume it. Throw it away or return it to Wegmans for a refund or replacement.
