The big story in the National Football League over the past 10-12 days has been concussions and the league's concussion protocol.

That's due to the Tua Tagovailoa situation.

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, was pushed to the ground by Buffalo Bills linebacker Matt Milano and slammed his head on the turf when the Bills played at the Dolphins in week 3.

Tua wobbled but was allowed back into the game after going through the league's concussion protocol test. The following game (four days later on Thursday Night Football), Tagovailoa was slammed to the turf in Cincinnati and laid motionless. He left in an ambulance and his scary saga has led to an investigation by the NFLPA and the termination of the unaffiliated neuro consultant who was part of the team who cleared him against the Bills.

On Thursday, Bills edge rusher Von Miller have a pretty powerful quote on the concussion debate, and took a stance in what should happen to players who suffer any type of concussion.

Miller told Hannah Storm and Andrea Kremer on Amazon Prime's NFL coverage that he thinks any player who suffers a concussion or neck injury should be automatically taken out for the remainder of the game.

This from Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.

I think Miller is 100 percent correct.

Concussions can cause long-term impacts on someone's health, especially multiple concussions. After seeing what happened to Tua last week, it reminded everyone just how serious concussions can be.

For a long time, concussions were not taken seriously and that may have to do with how much we knew (as, how little we knew) about concussions. You couldn't see it like a swollen knee or a dislocated shoulder, it was hidden.

Indianapolis Colts running back Nyheim Hines suffered a concussion last night on the first carry of the game and displayed "gross motor instability."

He was declared out just minutes after he left the game. It should be like that every time.
