ADRI.V’s Go Getta Of The Week: Owners Of Unapologetic Coffee

Every week I, ADRI.V The Go Getta look to feature a mover and shaker who embodies the “Go Getta Spirit” and is doing great things for the people and themselves in the Western New York and Southern Ontario community.

Having the blessed opportunity of having my show “ADRI.V's Go Getta District” I look to use my platform to acknowledge those people nominated as “Go Getta of The Week”

Meet the owners of Unapologetic Coffee Alicia Officer, CEO and Alisa Officer, CEO.

Unapologetic Coffee is the brain child of two twin sisters, with a passion for coffee and community. A 100% Woman Owned company. At Unapologetic Coffee Co. they aim to provide small batch, roasted quality coffee direct to consumers as well as small businesses. Specifically, looking to integrate their brand message within local prospects at the traditional and non traditional markets. Fresh roasted coffee on a micro level that focuses on the social responsibility of ethnic diversity and representation.

To say they've been drinking coffee since they were kids would be a complete understatement. They remember sneaking sips at 3 years old!

Being a coffee drinker goes beyond who they are. As a family they come from a very diverse, close knit family and their love for coffee started with their grandma (pictured above) who they call "tayta," (pronounced "thai-ta") in lebanese. She taught them to share what they know with the community around them and Coffee has been their go to share.

For their family, coffee is an experience, a cornerstone of discussion. Whether it's after the hardest day or the best day of your life, you'll always hear someone asking "is the coffee on?"

The ladies have had a true journey in starting their business and most recently reflected on just a year ago of them starting their business and the great opportunity they have had the chance to embark on.

" Fun fact, 1 year ago we gave the pitch that started it all! That night we came in 2nd place however gained much more than anyone knew that evening. We learned how to not only pitch Unapologetic Coffee, but pitch ourselves to would be investors, vendors, customers, and banks. We owe a lot of the success to M&T Bank! This is not a paid partnership, this is family celebrating family!

Beyond Capital, many BIPOC businesses struggle to gain access to knowledge of how to start and grow. We worked closely to form a relationship with our bank for several months before launching.
When we were approached to join the innovation lab, we didn't know how much we'd gain either. Fast forward, and we are growing past our on our year one expectations.

M&T's MCIL is part of the reason we continue to advocate for strong relationships with businesses and community banks. We break down barriers of entry when everyone is given the same opportunities.
