Buffalo Man Charged With Manslaughter For Stabbing Death In Cheektowaga
A Buffalo man has been charged for a fatal stabbing that took place on Wednesday, June 8, 2022. Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced that the 27-year-old man was arraigned on the morning of Thursday, June 9, before Cheektowaga Town Court Justice David Stevens on one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree. Jaquan Combs of Buffalo allegedly stabbed the victim in the neck with a knife during an argument on Wednesday that happened around 2 pm. The incident took place on Harlem Road in a parking lot near Wayne Terrace in Cheektowaga.
The 21-year-old male victim died at the scene. Combs was arrested a short time after allegedly committing the crime. He is due back in court next week, on Tuesday, June 14, at 9:30 am for a felony hearing. He is currently being held without bail. Combs is facing a maximum of 25-years behind bars, if he is convicted of the charge against him. All defendants are considered innocent until convicted in a court of law.
It seemed like right after the fatal mass shooting at Tops on Jefferson Avenue, there was a pause in the violence in Buffalo. But recently, there have been violent incidents happening again. Hopefully, this year will not be as deadly as last year.
From 2008 to 2021, there were 709 homicides in the City of Buffalo, an average of 55 homicides per year. In 2021, there were 67 homicides in the City of Buffalo.
So far, in 2022, there have been 18 murders in Buffalo.
