CNN's Roland Marting has been suspended by the network for a comment he made via Twitter during the Super Bowl on February 5th. Martin, who is also featured on the Tom Joyner Morning Show has been under fire from GLAAD (the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) for making the following comment:

If a dude at your Super Bowl party is hyped about David Beckham’s H&M underwear ad, smack the ish out of him! #superbowl

Martin was referring the Super Bowl commercial featuring David Beckham in his underware and claims his comment was directed at anyone who enjoys watching soccer.

After notifying Martin of their decision to suspend him CNN released the following statement:

“Roland Martin’s tweets were regrettable and offensive. Language that demeans is inconsistent with the values and culture of our organization, and is not tolerated. We have been giving careful consideration to this matter, and Roland will not be appearing on our air for the time being.”
